Piano Experience
• I am a piano tuner-technician. I taught myself from books and courses
given at tuners' conventions.
• in 1980 I passed the tests given by the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG)
and became a Registered Tuner Techinican (RTT)
• I have served as president of the local Guild chapter
• I have taught two people to tune well enough to pass the tests themselves. One bought my business in 1983.
• In my shop we refurbished used pianos for resale, rebuilt player pianos and pump organs.
• We also learned to produce Steinway grade hand-rubbed lacquer finishes.
• I still tune and do in-home repairs.
• I sold the tools for rebuilding and major work and don't do that any more.
